Colorado Sen. Mark Udall said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack promised to take an in-depth look into the problems farmers and ranchers are left with after the fall of New Frontier Bank in Greeley, Colorado.
The failure of the bank left many northeast Colorado dairy farmers struggling to find credit in a hard market.
Farmers and state officials sent a letter last month to Vilsack asking that funds from the Farm Agency be moved from a guaranteed loan program to one that offers operating loans to farmers.
Udall told Forbes.com that Vilsack was polite discussing it and they will further discussion on his next visit.
New Frontier Bank closed its doors on April 10 after they were issued a cease and desist order for unsafe and unsound banking practices.
