The USDA is no longer accepting applications for the Value Added Producer Program.
Colorado producers may be eligible for money that is available to assist agricultureal producers seeking to add value to crops and livestock. The USDA is looking to award up to $100,000 to producers or $300,000 in working capital. $18 million is available nationwide from the USDA.
Applications were to be received by November 30 for anyone looking to propose projects to the USDA for funding. Family and medium-sized farms are most likely to be approved for funding. Those looking for funding must be able to match the funds requested. Ten percent of the funds have been put aside for beginning and socially disadvantaged farmers.
