Kansas Counties Hit With Harsh Weather Now Eligible for Funding

Following excessive rain, heat and drought from April 23 through Nov. 1, 2010, select Kansas counties are eligible for disaster assistance through the United States Department of Agriculture.
The main effected counties include Coffey, Shawnee, Osage and Wabaunsee. During this time these counties saw damage to a variety of crops including wheat.
Other effected counties include: Allen, Anderson, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Greenwood, Jackson, Jefferson, Morris, Pottawatomie, Riley and Woodson.
Producers in these counties with livestock or crop damage due to weather should contact their local FSA office. Documentation of damages as well as applications are required for eligibility. Each case will be considered individually. Officials will consider the extent of damage, credit eligibility and producers must have 2010 crop insurance to qualify.
