Disaster Loans Available

Jack Salava, acting State Executive Director for Kansas’ Farm Service Agency, announced the FSA has emergency loans available for producers who suffered loss from natural disasters.
From May 8-16, Kansas suffered severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford and Linn counties. Any producers in these counties can apply until Feb. 19, 2010 for emergency loans.
Butler, Chase, Chautauqua, Coffey, Dickinson, Elk, Grant, Greenwood, Harvey, Lyon, Marion, Sumner and Woodson are also eligible for disasters during March 26-29. Eligible producers can apply until Feb. 24, 2010.
The loan funds can be used to restore or replace production costs and equipment. Applicants can apply for up to 100 percent of actual production losses but cannot exceed $500,000. These loans have a 3.75 percent interest rate.
