North Carolina Congressman Tapped for Ag Committee

Congressman-Elect Richard Hudson announced at a recent meeting of the North Carolina Farm Bureau that he had been offered a position on the House Agriculture Committee.

Throughout the 2012 election campaign, Hudson campaigned heavily on the importance of agriculture to the American economy and the importance of having a strong farm advocate in Congress. Hudson, an Republican, also ran on a platform of repealing farm regulations and limiting the power of the Environmental Protection Agency.

“It is my distinct honor to be chosen to serve on the Agriculture Committee,” said Hudson during his Farm Bureau address. “Agriculture is the number one industry in North Carolina and I look forward to promoting fiscally responsible, pro-growth policies that will ensure our farmers have the best opportunity for success. This appointment has given me the opportunity to address serious needs of the people of our district, and I am looking forward to serving my constituents.”

As a member of the agriculture committee, Hudson will have a voice in federal agricultural policy and will be able to shape farm policy to better aid his North Carolina constituents.
