Wisconsin Holstein Association Scholarships for Agriculture Students

Throughout Wisconsin high school seniors and college students are eligible for a variety of agriculture scholarships. The Wisconsin Holstein Association announced winners for a variety of scholarships at the end of December. All recipients will be recognized at the Junior Holstein Convention in Stevens Point in January. Students can apply for 13 different scholarships totaling $13,000.
The Elroy Borgwardt memorial Scholarship is a yearly award named for the long-term Holstein breeder and past president of the association. This year’s award, for a student in any field of agriculture, goes to Mitch Kappelman.
The Gordon Berg Memorial Scholarship, in honor of a former long-term member, will go to Dustin Huser or Vesper who is studying farm operations programs.
One of the newest awards, the Doris Morris Memorial Scholarship will go to Kelly Lee. The award was named in honor of the co-owner and operator of Arwyn Farms in Waukesha County. Morris was a significant part of Waukesha County agriculture for over 40 years.
A new award for 2011, the Brad Fust Memorial Scholarship will be named at the convention as well as eight other scholarship awards.
