USDA to Hold Risk Management Seminars

The US Department of Agriculture recently announced that it would be holding a series of seminars to advise farmers about risk management and commodity price protection.
The past year has not been kind to American farmers. Last summer saw a severe drought devastate farms across the country. Farmers from California to Ohio suffered from low rainfall and high temperatures and saw their crops wither in the fields. While the extreme drought did not reoccur this summer, heavy rain deluges saturated fields and drowned crops.
In the wake of the major crop losses suffered across, the USDA has begun hosting a series of seminars offering farmers help in protecting commodities and managing climatological risk.
The upcoming event will feature Cliff Parker, a former employee of the USDA’s Risk Management Agency, and Dave Geoller, an agriculture professor at the University of Nebraska.
