Crisis Line Helps Farmers in Difficult Times

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is reaching out to farmers during these difficult times.
The Farmer Assistance Network is a new hotline for farmers in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa for farmers feeling financial and psychological stress. The program is based off an Iowa program, AgriWellness, that has seen an increase in calls by 18 percent.
Most calls are from dairy farmers crippled by dairy prices. The biggest increase followed the collapse of both dairy and pork prices. Minnesota farmers can get help by calling the Farmer Assistance Network at 1-877-898-MFAN (6326).
