Paul Wenger, president of the California Farm Bureau Federation in Sacramento was named one of the newest members of the board of the American Farm Bureau Federation.
Wenger was elected as one of the five Western Region representatives on the 34-member AFBF board. This group is responsible for overseeing the operation of 6.3 million members across the United States. Members come from all sectors of the agriculture industry.
“Farmers and ranchers in California and other Western states face unique issues and pressures, such as Endangered Species Act restrictions, water shortages and farm-labor concerns. I’ll work with my fellow Western Region representatives to make sure resolving those issues is a high national priority,” Wenger said according to the Sacramento Bee.
Wenger was elected California Farm Bureau president in 2009, overseeing nearly 80,000 members.
