Five energy efficiency programs in Colorado, New York, Hawaii and Maryland were recognized by The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. The winners of the “States Stepping Forward: Best Practices for State-Led Energy Efficiency Programs” were awarded for five specific programs.
The Colorado Governor’s Energy Office received the award for its ENERGY STAR New Homes Program.
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Combined Heat and Power Demonstration that provides assistance and incentives for customers to cut their energy dependence was also awarded. The Wastewater Efficiency Program was also recognized.
The Lead by Example Program, handled by The Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism that provides assistance and support for state employees, building industry, businesses, tourism industry and homeowners was recognized for its efforts.
Finally The ACEEE recognized The Maryland Energy Administration’s Statewide Farm Energy Audit Program.
In a statement, The National Association of State Energy Offices Executive Director David Terry said, “Energy efficiency efforts are thriving at the state level in ways that most people may not be aware of today. The program winners demonstrate how state governments can implement successful, cost-effective energy efficiency programs aimed at a variety of customer types.”
